The Electrical Force of Fireside Footies

A few days ago, pippikneesocks (http://www.pippikneesocks.com/) posted her Fireside Footies pattern. I just had to make a pair of those from some Noro Kureyon. They made up quickly and felted beautifully. I wore them last evening. They kept my cold feet nice and toasty.

I’d forgotten what happens when wool and my carpet meet. In fact, I had little idea myself just how bad the electrostatic discharge could really be and burned out two outlets. I’d gone upstairs to turn on the electric blanket and zap, the discharge from just that knocked out one socket. But did I learn? Nope. I went downstairs and did the same thing when I tried to turn on a space heater. Now, I’m not sure what all this means, but if it means I have to replace those sockets myself, well, I am just too chicken to do it. I think the Fireside Footies are going to remain near my TV chair and will be removed when I have to get up. They are downright dangerous.

The joy of winter time in the desert. I get shocked in my house constantly. Every time my cat rubs up against my legs I gets zapped. The socks look great.

Holy Crap!
I'm really shocked that hasn't happened here! (in this house with it's shotty wiring, where if I touch the (gas) stove and the fridge at the same time, I get a nice jolt (hey! Almost better than coffee!)
I'd offer to come help, but I know nothing about wiring!

Anyhoo, those are beautiful! I love love love that colorway!! Seeing them is a great way to start my week!! :)

Oh my goodness they are SO beautiful! I get shocked ALL the time once it gets to be about Decemberish. It doesn't matter what I touch, and I tend to shock other people as much as I shock objects.

But those Footies! They are so beautiful!
